The firm represents media and public interests exclusively, in the courts and in the political arena. John Bussian,
the firm's principal, has litigated scores of libel and open government issues, as well as subpoenas directed to newsrooms,
courtroom and court records access disputes, and circulation, advertising, and intellectual property matters in state and
federal courts across the country. The firm represents on regular basis Freedom Communications' properties, including
its nine North Carolina newspapers and its papers in Florida, Texas, California, New Mexico, Colorado, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana,
and Missouri, along with the member newspapers of the North Carolina Press Association and the Southern Newspaper
Publishers' Association. The firm also represents The News & Observer in Raleigh, The Herald-Sun in Durham,
WNCT-TV in Greenville, and the Duke Student Publishing Company, and has litigated for the Associated Press and the
